Reunited and it Feels so Good

June 6, 2016 by

I was so excited to visit one of my best friends from childhood this past weekend. You know the one; the girl who you had a standing sleepover scheduled every Friday, passed notes with in the hallways, had the combo to each other’s lockers, and swooned over boy bands with. Well that’s what Niki G is to me. I can’t even remember how many choreographed dances we came up with late at night in her living room, or how many times we went on each other’s family vacations. We were inseparable for years, and then life happened… We went to different colleges, lived in different states, and eventually married our other (not better) halves.

And before I knew it, this sweet and kind (super talented) girl turned into a badass rock star business owner and developer! Where had my little Niki gone? Oh wait, she was still in there driving the moral compass of this powerful woman. Never have I met someone more gracious and bold than Niki. She is a force to be reckoned with and an inspiration to all who know her.

Now as the Managing Director and co-owner of the Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno, I am more impressed with her than ever. She is running a successful business, household, and is about to be a first time mom on top of it all!

While visiting Niki last weekend (and recording this week’s show), I had the pleasure of staying at her hotel. I saw her designs as a reality and her dreams as a tangible product. What she has done is truly amazing and worthy of awe. Digging into the mind of a young successful female entrepreneur is always exciting, but one who I danced, giggled, and plotted with as a child is a rare honor.

Join us on this week’s episode as we ask her about the good, the bad, and the ugly of running a hotel, and touch on both the struggles and the triumphs of being an entrepreneur. Hear what sage advice she has for those starting their own businesses and (perhaps most importantly) what she has in her closet; cause let’s be real, that’s what we really care about.
